HOW TO CHOOSE ITS ELECTROGENE GROUP?

In order to define the equipment adapted to your situation there are several questions to ask, for example:

  • What is the power required to operate my installation or devices?
  • What kind of fuel?
  • What is the intended use ?
  • portable or fixed ? Relief, production or occasional?
  • What is the desired autonomy?
  • What sound level?
  • What voltage regulation do I need?
  • What protection?
  • Do I want to start it automatically?
  • What's my budget?
  • What guarantee and service do I look for?
  • What's my space constraint?

These elements will help to define the right generator, adapted to your situation, your need for autonomous energy.

The little lexicon of generator :

MONOPHASE : generator that has only one phase and generates 220V output voltage (domestic)

TRIPHASED : generator which has 3 phases and which generates a voltage output of 400V (appliances which require + intensity)

AVR : AVR regulation is a classic regulation at + or -1% variation, it's the element that will straighten the current out of generator, you won't see it but it's at the bottom of the generator and will come to "soften" the generated current to make it acceptable for a large number of devices. It also acts as protection, in case of overload or return of current, it will be one of the first affected elements, careful to respect the conditions of use of your generator, otherwise it will probably cost you to replace it.

INVERTER : inverter technology generator allows you to connect all types of devices (if your inverter is recent it will be compatible electroportative), it is the current control that allows you to connect mainly electronics, without harming your devices. An inverter delivers a current whose sinusoidal curve is rounded and therefore more "smooth" than on a conventional AVR.

AUTOMATIC TRAFFIC/ ATS : Start by ATS (automatic transfer switch), automatic source reversal case. When your main source is cut off, ATS allows the activation of the generator to take over the main installation.  DISTANCE LOADING : Start by remote control of remote start/stop.

KVA : Kilovoltampère: unit of measurement of voltage power in three-phase 0.8kva = 1kw

KW : kilowatt: unit of measurement of voltage power single-phase 1kw = 0.8kva 3000TR/MIN: Rotation speed of the engine generator which defines the service life: + or – 7000 hours. This type of engine is very often used for "portable" generators

1500TR/MIN : Rotation speed of the engine generator which defines the service life: + or – 30,000 hours.

AIR REFROIDMENT : Engine that does not have a cooling radiator, which cools through a flow of ambient air sucked down and then repressed up.

LIQUID REFRIDING : Engine that cools through a liquid cooling system such as a water radiator, filled with coolant (equivalent to what you find in a truck or car).

CONTINUED POWER : It is the power useful for the operation of your devices PUISSANCE MAX / PUISSANCE D'APPEAL : This is the power needed to start your devices, this power can be 3 to 7 times higher than the continuous power of your devices. Understand that to start an engine that needs a greater force (intensity) than when it is already running, you will need to check the amps needed to start your devices.

AMPERAGE : Measurement of current intensity in an electric circuit which determines the maximum power required by an apparatus for its start.

DB : decibel : measure of the sound generated. Equivalency table:

 

There are several types of generators:

  • 3000 rpm air-cooled gasoline open or soundproof
  • 3000 rpm air-cooled fuel open or soundproof Invert gasoline and/or gas
  • 1500 rpm water-cooled fuel soundproof
  • 1500 rpm water-cooled fuel open

 

Several types of start-ups:

  • Manual
  • Electric
  • Automatic with source inverter
  • Automatic by dry contact (e.g. connected to inverter in case of emergency of a photovoltaic installation with batteries)
